PADI Enriched Air
(Nitrox) Course

Enriched Air EANx, or as it is so often called NITROX, is simply  normal air enriched with additional Oxygen so it has more than 21% oxygen.  By replacing some of the nitrogen that you breathe  underwater with oxygen, you will absorb less nitrogen that you  would if breathing normal air.   This means that you have longer no-decompression limits for each depth than you would using air.   A common misconception among divers is that NITROX is a deep diving gas.   In fact, it is best applied to shallower dives.
